Black Digital Frame

Digital photo frames are becoming more and more popular with our movement into the digital age.  Whereas people used to be restricted to keeping one photo in a frame at a time, you can now fit a nearly endless supply of photographs in the space of one small frame.  The digital photo frame will project an image to the LCD or LED screen on the frame.  It can then be set up to rotate through the images in whatever interval you want, so you can have your frame displaying off all your photos, rather than having to put up a bevy of frames or create a large, cumbersome photo album that will likely never be viewed.  You can even set all kinds of transitions up when rotating between pictures.

There are some negative aspects to digital photo frames.  The major downside is that digital photo frames must be powered.  Most are powered using standard AC adapters, which means they must be plugged into the wall.  This has the downsides of both limiting where you can place the frame, and also of leaving an unsightly cord out in the open.  There are ways to hide this cord, and work around these limitations, but they are limitations that you would not find with a typical picture frame.

Digital photo frames are available in various sizes, various materials (glass, wood, plastic, etc), and with both LCD and LED screen types.  LCD screen types are more traditional and cheaper to create, whereas LED screens have the advantages of using less power, lasting longer, and generally giving a more realistic picture.  LCD screens tend to be brighter, however they can often make images look abnormally bright and washed out as compared to what real skin tones and colors should look like.

When buying a digital photo frame, it is important to take note of the resolution and contrast ratio of the screen.  The higher these numbers are, the sharper the image will be.
